ATLANTIC GYMNASTS REPRESENT IN LONG ISLAND

Seacoast Gymnasts Compete in Spring Classic

LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK- Atlantic Gymnastics Training Center (AGTC) Junior Olympic (JO) Gymnasts recently returned home from the 2016 Heartland Spring Classic held at Heartland Business Center in Long Island, NY, hosted by New Image Gymnastics Academy. In this year’s classic, 644 gymnasts from participated during the course of the weekend.

Level 8

JO Level 8 team sent just 2 gymnasts to represent the team, Brooke McErlain and Dominique Chasse. McErlain had a near perfect day on each event; 1st on uneven bars, 2nd on beam and 3rd on floor, landing her in 3rd place in the all-around standings in her division. Teammate Chasse was not too far behind with an all around score of 25.450 and a 5th place finish in her division.

Level 9

The JO Level 9 team consisted of 5 gymnasts: Sydney Caro, Kirsten Sweetman, Ayla McKean, Camille Sweet, and Jillian York. Caro had a season high meet, placing 9th on vault, 8th on floor, 6th on bars and beam. She ended up in 5th place in the all around in her age group with a 36.40 all around score. Teammate McKean also had a successful meet, placing 8th on bars, 7th on vault, and 5th on floor, resulting with an all around 5th place score in her division. Sweet achieved a career high vault of 9.375 to put her in 6th place on the event; she performed well on floor exercise taking also placed 9th on the event. Londonderry’s Sweetman had a season high meet also. She placed 9th on bars, 6th on floor, and 4th on beam, which put her in 8th in the all around for her age group.

York was on her way to a successful meet completing a very difficult move on uneven bars for the first time this season and performing a 9th place balance beam routine.

Level 10

Level 10 competitor, Annie Christman, of Amherst, NH, gave it her all for another great meet. Christman earned 6th overall with a 35.550, accompanied by 4th on vault (9.250), 6th on uneven bars (9.275), 12th on beam (8.20) and 7th on floor exercise (8.825).

The competitors head back to practice to prepare for the team’s next meet, the Starlight Invitational held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. AGTC teams are coached by Matt Yellis, Cori Cunningham, and Allison Brisson.2016 LongIsland Level 9.jpg
