Xcel State Championships Results. Atlantic- Portsmouth



DERRY, NH- SUNDAY, 8 MAY 2016 Atlantic X-CEL Gymnasts performed at their highest levels this weekend in the New Hampshire State X-CEL Championships hosted by NH USAG and held at Pinkerton Academy. These talented young competitors were among hundreds of gymnasts who presented their best performances of the season. X-CEL Silver captured third place in the team awards with a score of 115.425. While having only five competitors, X-CEL Gold continued the winning trend capturing sixth place with a score of 111.175.

EXCEL SILVER: Excel Silver Team individual performances were divided into separate age divisions. In the nine and under age division, Samantha Bender achieve a seventh-place finish in all-around This included taking sixth on vault, seventh on floor, eighth on bars and tenth on balance beam.

Taking top honors in the ten-year-old age division was Maia Santora who scored 38.125 in the all-around and narrowly missed becoming a Regional Qualifier. Her scores included placing first on vault with a 9.475, second on bars and beam and fifth on floor. Teammate Margaret Freil placed third in the all-around with a score of 37.70. This included placing first on floor, second on vault, sixth on beam and tenth on bars. Rounding out the age group was Ginger Friedman who placed sixth in the all-around. Her first-place vault score solidified her position.

The eleven-year olds also impressed. In the 11A Division, Eryn Richards placed fifth in the all-around with a score of 37.8. Her score included a second-place floor routine, fourth-place vault and bars routine and a tenth place beam routine. Teammate Breanna Webb performed solid routines including a fifth-place vault and seventh-place floor which resulted in her placing tenth in the all-around. In division 11B, Rosayla Gonzalez captured first place in the all-around with a score of 38.025 also narrowly missing regional qualification. Her first-place vault, third-place bars, fourth-place floor and eleventh-place beam placed her in the lead. Placing third in the all-around in the age division was teammate Amelia Moll who captured first-place on floor and second on the uneven bars. Completing the division for Team Atlantic was Alice Weir who placed tenth in the all-around. Her performance included a sixth-place floor exercise and eighth-place vault.

The afternoon’s excitement continued with the 12-year-old divisions. In Division 12A Georgina Ramadanovic placed seventh in the all-around. Her routines included a second place bars score of 9.850, third-place floor routine of 9.50 and a fifth-place vault of 9.40. In Division 12B, Callie Kendellen took fourth place in the all-around. She completed second on bars, sixth on vault and seventh on floor. Vivian Wester placed eighth in the all-around solidifying her position with a sixth-place beam performance and seventh-place vault and bars scores. Raigen Michniewicz was the sole representative of team Atlantic’s 13-year-old division performing well and securing an eighth-place finish on the uneven bars.

The 14-year-olds continued with success. Hannah Cloutier achieved eighth-place in the all-around which included a fifth-place score on bars and eighth-place on beam. Teammate Sammy Bradley took tenth place in the all-around. Her performance included a seventh-place finish on the uneven bars.

EXCEL GOLD: Although only five Atlantic gymnasts represented the Excel Gold Division, their performances were memorable. In the 9 to 11 age division, Portsmouth’s Marguerite MacDonald finished in seventh place in the all-around. The highlight of her performance included a fifth-place balance beam routine.

Olivia Kimball took third place in the all-around scoring a total of 37.175. She completed in fourth position for both vault and beam, fifth for bars and seventh on floor. Hannah Pettigrew represented the 14-year-olds for Team Atlantic. Pettigrew had solid routines which included a tenth-place finish on vault.

North Hampton’s Katharina Brandt placed fifth in the all-around with a combined score of 36.650 in the 15+ year division. Ms. Brandt placed third on vault, fourth on bars and seventh on floor. Finishing in seventh place all-around was Olivia Baldassare. Her routines included a second place bars performance and a sixth place vault.

In the Platinum Division Katherine Weathersby had a combined all around of 36.225 in the 14 and under age division. Katherine scored a 9.4 on vault which was good for 3rd place in her age division.
