ATLANTIC LEVEL 5 GYMNASTS TRAVEL TO NEW YORK CITY
New York, NY—January 28, 2017, Level 5 gymnasts from Atlantic Gymnastics Training Center (AGTC) of Portsmouth, New Hampshire competed in the Manhattan Classic this weekend at Pier 94 in New York City. The meet, hosted by NYC Elite Gymnastics, draws gymnastic talent from across the country and beyond.
In the Junior B age division, Marin Morrison (Northwood, NH) led Atlantic’s Level 5 gymnasts, with a team-high all-around score of 35.4. Morrison performed a beautiful floor routine and a soaring bars routine, earning fourth place medals in both events for an eighth place finish in the all-around. Shea Graham (Hampton, NH) continues to be a powerhouse on the vault, scoring a 9.325 on the event, for third place honors. Graham also earned an eighth place medal on the balance beam and a tenth place finish in the all-around. Sydney Andrews (Hampton, NH) was consistently strong on all events, including a poised performance on the balance beam and a graceful floor routine that both earned tenth place honors.
In the Senior A age division, Avery Cole (Hampton, NH) continues to excel on the uneven bars, earning a second place medal for the event. Cole also earned tenth place honors on the balance beam and eighth place in the all-around competition. Maggie Friel (Rye, NH) performed a high-flying vault for sixth place and a solid uneven bars routine for eighth place.
Lily Buono (Newmarket, NH), competing in the Senior B age division, executed an elegant floor routine and a confident uneven bars performance for eighth place finishes in both events.
The team’s active meet season continues on Friday, February 3, at the Let’s Make a Deal Meet in Worcester, MA. The team is coached by Alexis Nault and Tony Retrosi.
The Level 8 meet featured Anya Cunningham in the Senior A division and Sarah Craft in the Senior B division. Cunningham continued her winning streak capturing first place in the all around with a 36.675. She was also the event champion on floor (9.275) and beam (9.25) and placed second on vault (8.85) and bars (9.325). Craft has improved her standings at every meet and she finished in second place all around with a 35.1. She also placed third on vault (8.7) and third on floor (9.1). The Level 8 team will compete next at the Magical Classic in Orlando, Florida in February.
