ATLANTIC LEVEL 5 GYMNASTS WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Kingston, NH—April 2, 2017, Level 5 gymnasts from Atlantic Gymnastics Training Center (AGTC) of Portsmouth, New Hampshire are the New Hampshire Level 5 team state champions. Thirty-three Level 5 gymnasts from across the state competed on Sunday at the state championship meet, which was held at Sanborn Regional High School and hosted by Gymnastics at Brentwood Commons.
In the 9-10 age division, Marin Morrison (Northwood, NH) earned personal best scores for the season on the balance beam (9.325) and in the all-around competition (36.1) and captured medals for her performances on the beam (second place), uneven bars (third place), floor exercise (third place), and all-around competition (fourth place). Eva Hersey (Elliot, ME) put in a personal best performance of the season on the floor exercise (8.825) and took home fifth place medals on both the uneven bars and the balance beam.
In the 11 year old age division, Sydney Andrews (Hampton, NH) executed consistent performances on all events at the state championship, earning medals in each event and the all-around competition. Andrews took home second place on the uneven bars, fifth place on beam, sixth place on floor, eighth place on vault, and fourth place in the all-around competition, including personal best scores for the season on floor (9.15), balance beam (8.95), and uneven bars (8.95). Shea Graham (Hampton, NH) is the 11 year-old Level 5 state champion for vault (9.4) and floor exercise (9.45), earning personal best scores for the season in each event, which contributed to her fifth place finish in the all-around competition. Maggie Friel (Rye, NH) put in personal best performances of the season on the uneven bars (8.675) and floor exercise (8.6), earning a sixth place medal for her bars routine.
Lily Buono (Newmarket, NH) is the 12+ year old Level 5 uneven bars state champion, with a personal best score for the season of 9.2. Buono led Atlantic’s Level 5 team with a personal best score of 36.25 in the all-around, which earned her a third place medal in the highly competitive 12+ age group. Avery Cole (Hampton, NH) executed a personal best performance for the season on the floor exercise (8.95) and earned a fourth place medal for her high-flying uneven bars routine.
The State Championship marks the end of the competitive gymnastics season for the Level 5 gymnasts. The girls are excited to return to the gym to work on new skills for next season. They are coached by Alexis Nault and Tony Retrosi.
