Results: Dover Xcel compete at A2 gym.

Over the weekend of March 25-26th the Atlantic Gymnastics Dover Xcel team competed in the Xcel Spectacular meet hosted by A2 Gym and Cheer. Dover’s gymnasts have been working hard perfecting their routines in anticipation of the NH State meet quickly approaching. Their hard work paid off with all four level placing in the top three.

In the Bronze level the Dover gymnasts were divided into three age groups keeping in theme with the meet: Awesome, Xcellent, and Xtreme. In the Awesome age division Gracie Schmidt took 1st on bars with a 9.55, 3rd on beam with a 9.425, 3rd on floor and 1st in the all-around with a 37.85. Samantha Bishop placed 3rd on bars with a 9.25, 2nd on beam with a 9.525, 1st on floor with a 9.55, and 3rd in the all-around with a 37.575. In the Xcellent age group Kaylee Corman took 2nd on floor with a 9.525. Kaitlin Cady earned 1st on vault with a 9.55, 2nd on bar with a 9.4, 2nd on beam with a 9.5 and placed 1st in the all-around with a 37.65. Sophia Day tied with Kaitlin on vault scoring a 9.55 and placing 2nd. The tie was broken based on which gymnast scored higher in the all-around. Averie Marcotte placed 1st on floor with a 9.775 and took 3rd in the all-around with a 37.6. Katherine Indelicato placed 3rd on beam scoring a 9.3. In the Xtreme age group, Bea Van Campen placed 2nd on bars with a 9.275. Cate Palmer earned 1st on bars with a 9.425, and 2nd on floor with a 9.7 and 2nd in the all-around with a 37.925. Atlantic Xcel Bronze placed 1st in the team division with a 114.5.

Atlantic’s Silver team did ‘Xtremely Awesome’ as well! In the Awesome age division Savanah Hughes placed 1st on vault with a 9.375 and 2nd on floor with a 9.575. Brooke Kelly took 3rd on vault with a 9.3. In the Xcellent age group Brooke Helliwell placed 1st on vault with a 9.35, 1st on floor with a huge score of 9.8 snf took 2nd in the all-around with a 38.0. Gabby Sasien earned 3rd place on floor with a 9.575. In the Xtreme group Erica Chase placed 2nd on vault with a 9.5. Audrey Choate took 2nd on beam scoring a 9.5. The Silver team took 2nd place overall with a 114.225.

The Gold team has performed outstandingly well this entire season. In the Awesome age group Natalie Sicard placed 3rd on bars with a 9.225 and 3rd in the all-around with a 36.725. In the Xcellent age group Delaney Sauers took 2nd on vault with a 9.375, 2nd on bars with a 9.35, 1st on floor with a 9.5, and 2nd in the all-around with a 37.575. Anya Marengo earned 1st on bars with a 9.65, 2nd on beam with a 9.45, 2nd on floor with a 9.45, and 1st in the all-around with a 37.75. Cadence Howard placed 3rd on vault with a 9.35, 3rd on bars with a 9.25, 1st on beam with a 9.55, and 3rd in the all-around with a 37.275. Annie Beikman, part of the Xtreme age group, placed 1st on beam with a 9.65, 2nd on floor with a 9.5, and 2nd in the all-around with a 37.3. Ariel Bonney took 3rd on vault with a 9.425. Ariel also performed a new dismount off bars, her fly away, which she has been working on perfecting over the past few weeks. Jillian Driscoll placed 2nd on vault with a 9.45. Jillian also performed a new dismount off of beam, her back tuck! Atlantic’s Gold team took home 1st place with a 113.6.

In the Platinum level Sarah Bieniek performed her layout full on floor. She has been working hard to ensure that her twisting is near perfect. Sarah, part of the Awesome age division, placed 1st on vault with a 9.4 and 3rd in the all-around with a 37.05. In the Xcellent age group Bethany Howard placed 2nd on vault with a 9.125 and 2nd on beam with a 9.25. Alexa Nelson took 3rd on vault with a 9.1, 2nd on bars wtih a 9.0, 1st on beam with a 9.425, 1st on floor with a 9.525, and 1st in the all-around scoring a 37.05. The Platinum team took home 2nd place with a 110.3.

Atlantic’s gymnast will compete next at the Spring Fling hosted by Granite State Gymnastics over the weekend of April 22nd-23rd. A2 Bronze.jpg

Atlantic Dover ROCK the Hip- Hop Classics

The Atlantic Dover Xcel team travelled to Brattleboro, VT this past weekend to compete in the Hip Hop Classic meet hosted by Woodman Athletics. This meet boasted teams from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Connecticut with girls competing from Friday through Sunday. The Dover Xcel team has been training hard and it sure paid off in Vermont.

The Bronze Xcel team placed 2nd with a team total of 112.25. In the Junior B age group Caitlin Klein placed 3rd on bars. Savanah Hughes took 2nd on vault, 1st on bars, 1st on beam, and 3rd on floor earning her 2nd in the all around. In the Junior C age group Sophia Day took 3rd on floor with a beautiful round-off back handspring. Gabby Harrition nabbed 2nd on vault, 1st on bars, and 2nd on beam with a stuck routine. Gabby also took 3rd on floor and earned 2nd in the all-around. In the Senior A Bronze division Caraboo West took 3rd on bars. Three must have been a lucky number because Renee Remick took 3rd on three events: bars, beam and floor. Sophie Lusenhop grabbed 1st on bars and beam. Sophie also earned 3rd in the all around. Finally in the Senior B age group Riley Bishop took 3rd on bars, 3rd on bars and 3rd in the all-around. Anna Wolusky came in 3rd on vault, 1st on bars, 2nd on beam, 2nd on floor and 2nd in the all around. Sophia Burke claimed 2nd on bars and 1st on vault, beam, floor and the all-around. Sophia also earned a special award for achieving the highest all around during the entire Bronze meet.

Atlantic Dover’s Xcel Silver team put on a fantastic performance. In the Junior A age group, Kailey Holt placed 1st on bars and beam. Kailey also took 3rd on floor and 2nd in the all around. In the Senior A age group, Gracie Gagne claimed 2nd on bars with a strong, clean routine. Kateri True, part of the Senior B age group, took 2nd on beam with a great save on her acro skill. Ari Bonney, also part of the Senior B category, took 1st on bars and 3rd in the all-around. In the Senior C age division, Aaliyah McKenzie and Kayla McGary tied for 2nd place on bars. Kayla also took 1st on floor and 3rd on beam earning her 3rd in the all-around. Annie Beikman took 3rd on vault, 1st on bars, 2nd on beam, and 1st on floor with a great save on her front tuck tumbling pass. Annie also earned 2nd in the all-around. In a rare occurrence, the Dover Atlantic Xcel Silver team tied for 3rd place with the Dover Portsmouth Atlantic Xcel team!

In the Gold Xcel division, the Atlantic girls’ hard work paid off with a 1st place team finish. In the Child age group, it was a clean sweep in the all-around with Natalie Sicard taking 3rd, Cadence Howard placing 2nd, and Anya Marengo coming in 1st. Natalie also took 1st on vault with Anya taking 3rd. On bars, Cadence placed 1st while Anya and Natalie tied for 2nd. All three girls had beautiful beam routines; Cadence claimed 1st with clean acro skills and a solid turn. Anya placed 2nd and Natalie 3rd. Finally, on floor Anya took 1st; Cadence and Natalie tied for 2nd place. In the Junior age division, Gianna Coppola took 1st place on every event and claimed 1st in the all-around. Gianna had her best meet of the season so far and also took home a special award for the highest all-around of the Gold session with a score of 37.15.

Three Dover Atlantic Xcel girls competed in the Platinum level: Sarah Bieniek, Alexa Nelson, and Lily Doody. Sarah, part of the Junior A age group performed well throughout the entire meet and earned a 1st place finish on bars. In the Junior B age division, Lily placed 3rd on vault. On Bars, Alexa took 3rd while Lily placed 2nd. Alexa earned a 1st place finish on beam with a newly changed routine and Lily came in 3rd meeting all of her beam requirements. Floor was a one-two finish with Lily in 1st place and Alexa in 2nd. In the all-around Alexa placed 2nd and Lily 1st. With only three girls competeing in Platinum, each score counted towards the team total. All three girls stayed positive and focused through the entire meet earning a 1st place team finish! Lily also took home the award for the highest all-around of the Platinum session. This was a bittersweet day for Lily and her team as this was her last meet of the season. Lily has been with Atlantic since she was a toddler and has been part of the Xcel team since 2011. She will be missed by her coaches and teammates.

Atlantic Dover Xcel will attend the Tune-Up meet hosted by Phantom Gymnastics over the weekend of April 9th and 10th.
